Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that often develops during one’s teen years. The symptoms of narcolepsy may include daytime sleepiness, cataplexy (episodes of muscle weakness that are usually triggered by strong emotions), hallucinations and vivid dreams, disrupted nighttime sleeping, and sleep paralysis (the inability to move when on the edge of sleep). Narcolepsy is a highly treatable condition with proper medical oversight.
